Packaging Requirements for FBA

Earlier this week, we have discussed fulfillment centers and protecting your Amazon seller feedback.
Today I just want to talk about packaging requirements FBA Amazon.
If you are selling on Amazon, just starting out, or have not considered using a fulfillment center, this is definitely beneficial to you.

Packaging properly with Amazon's prepping and packaging guidelines is another plus for fulfillment centers. As talked about in our previous blog about some of the differences between Amazon and eBay, private sellers on eBay typically sell and package their own products without a standard. This causes more damaged product and disappointed customers.

Failure to package by FBA guidelines may result in blocking shipments and return products.
It is very important to be become familiar with proper guidelines for shipping product. Here is an example listed on amazon seller central:

A unit that falls under multiple categories must be prepped according to all applicable prep types. For example, if you are selling bottles of Shampoo and Conditioner as a set, both units will need to meet the Liquid requirements as well as be labeled with a "Sold as Set" sticker so that they are not separated.

Loose product, sold as sets, dangerous materials all have specific guidelines.

There are downloaded documents and specific guidelines for all packaging. Help your business grow by taking proper steps in packaging. Most successful sellers use fulfillment centers to cut the hassle of having to do their own shipping.

                                  Approved packing materials include:
  • Foam sheets or cushioning
  • Air pillows
  • Bubble wrap
  • Full sheets of paper
The following packing materials are prohibited:
  • All types of packing peanuts, including those made of biodegradable material or cornstarch
  • Crinkle wrap
  • Shredded paper
  • Thermocol chips
These are the requirements, although there are fulfillment centers that do not follow Amazon's strict guidelines as well as many sellers.
http://www.myfulfillmentteam.com/ is one that lines the shipping boxes as required by Amazon's guidelines listed above. If you know of any other centers that do follow all guidelines set by Amazon, let us know and we will post them.

                                              Have A Great Day!
